چکیده
A novel tannic acid - ferric (TA-Fe) complex coating was applied to commercially available cellulose triacetate (CTA) forward osmosis (FO) membrane enhance performance. Notably, the coated attained a better water/salt selectivity than control and it had mild water permeability loss of about 13.6%. Consequently, when is operated in FO system, reverse salt flux smaller as compared uncoated membrane. Also, rejection three selected micropollutants improved this due both increased hydrophilicity decreased effective pore size. In fouling tests, with support layer facing feed solution (PRO mode), normalized for from 1 0.4. For our on side, higher 0.5 after test under same conditions, confirming its antifouling property. The improvement membrane's surface roughness interaction energy barrier between foulant These results represent new contribution wastewater treatment using based success authors' method potential offer multiple performance improvements osmotic pressure-driven processes.

Polyamide Forward Osmosis Membrane: Synthesis, Characterization and Its Performance for Humic Acid Removal
In this research, modification on the ultrafiltration (UF) membrane by synthesis of a thin layer of polyamide selective layer was designed for high performances of forward osmosis (FO) water treatment. Two monomers, m-Phenylenediamine (MPD) and Trimesoyl chloride (TMC) with different concentrations of MPD (2.0% w/v and 1.0% w/v) were reacted with TMC (0.15% w/v) for interfacial polymerization (...

متن کاملHydrophilic Mineral Coating of Membrane Substrate for Reducing Internal Concentration Polarization (ICP) in Forward Osmosis
Internal concentration polarization (ICP) is a major issue in forward osmosis (FO) as it can significantly reduce the water flux in FO operations. It is known that a hydrophilic substrate and a smaller membrane structure parameter (S) are effective against ICP. This paper reports the development of a thin film composite (TFC) FO membrane with a hydrophilic mineral (CaCO3)-coated polyethersulfon...
متن کاملSimultaneous activated carbon adsorption within a membrane bioreactor for an enhanced micropollutant removal.
Significant adsorption of sulfamethoxazole and carbamazepine to powdered activated carbon (PAC) was confirmed by a series of adsorption tests. In contrast, adsorption of these micropollutants to the sludge was negligible. The removal of these compounds in membrane bioreactor (MBR) was dependent on their hydrophobicity and loading as well as the PAC dosage. Sulfamethoxazole exhibited better remo...
متن کاملArtificial Spores: Immunoprotective Nanocoating of Red Blood Cells with Supramolecular Ferric Ion-Tannic Acid Complex
The blood-type-mismatch problem, in addition to shortage of blood donation, in blood transfusion has prompted the researchers to develop universal blood that does not require blood typing. In this work, the “cell-in-shell” (i.e., artificial spore) approach is utilized to shield the immune-provoking epitopes on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs). Individual RBCs are successfully coated with s...
